Before we start,  make sure to get a copy of the owner’s manual which you can download at www.sonnysdirect.com and review all the safety information related to this procedure.

Gather the tools and supplies you’ll need which are:

  • Safety Glasses.
  • Standard Combo Wrenches.
  • Small Adjustable Wrench.
  • Standard Allen Wrench
  • 1 JIC Plugs.
  • 1 JIC Cap.
  • Permanent Marker.

Once you have everything ready the first thing you need to do is:

  1. Remove the pressure hose going to the hydraulic motor. This is the “C” port on the flow control valve.
  2. Plug the port with a JIC plug.
  3. Plug the hose with a JIC plug.
  4. Using the marker, identify and mark the number where the valve is running at the time. Then open the valve all the way to 10 for the oil to reach its maximum flow.
  5. Remove the relief valve cap nut located directly across from the incoming pressure pipe.
  6. Startup power unit and read the gauge pressure, (the unit will make a squealing noise).
  7. Adjust the relief valve pressure by turning the adjustment screw clockwise to increase, counterclockwise to decrease, (for a conveyor we recommend 900-1200 PSI and for any other equipment 600-800).
  8.  Once you reach the desired PSI, turn off the power unit, remove the cap and the plug from the hose and valve and put the hose and speed where it was before you start adjusting the torque.
