Have you ever heard of the car wash song? Not the song "Working at the car wash", but the music your equipment plays for you everyday while your equipment is working. When you turn on your equipment for the very first time, everything sounds new and great. The pumps are pumping, the rollers are going and the blasters are blasting, but how do you know when something is out of whack? Usually you will hear it. If its a busted air hose you will hear an air leak. If its a bad bearing you will hear the grinding noise, or nothing at all because the bearing seized up. It is important to keep notes and visually inspect your equipment for anything that may throw your equipment off beat.
If your Mitter is making noise, check the following:
- The mitter baskets when swinging side to side or front to back, should have a smooth motion. If the basket do not have a smooth motion, check the axle bearings they may be worn. A worn bearing will make the basket swing sloppy. Replace all the bearings as soon as possible.
- Inspect/listen to the motor and gearbox for any unusually noises. A bad gearbox will make a grinding noise.
- Inspect your frame. Excessive vibration due to worn bearings, loose hardware can cause the frame to crack and/or cause other pieces to fail.
