Several elements make up a complete, functioning pumping system.  All of these elements need to be operating correctly in order for the whole system to function.   Some of the elements include; duty cycle, liquid being pumped, operating conditions and specifications versus the rating and capabilities of the pump and accessories.  Proper care and maintenance of pump and system components will maximize the life of your equipment.

Review and follow recommendations regarding systems design and inlet conditions to avoid potential problems.

Arimitsu Pumps are designed to offer superior life and be easy to service.  Field servicing can be accomplished with standard tools.  Use the following table as a guide to determine cause and remedy for possible problems.  Contact Arimitsu Pumps directly via web site or telephone for further assistance.

PROBLEM

PROBABLE CAUSE

SOLUTION

Low pressure -

•Worn nozzle.
•Replace with properly sized nozzle.

Pulsation -

•Belt slippage.
•Tighten belt(s) or install new belt(s).

Pressure fluctuation

•Air leak in inlet plumbing.
•Tighten fittings and hoses. Use PTFE liquid or tape.

•Pressure gauge inoperative or inaccurate.
•Replace old or damaged gauge.

•Relief valve stuck, dirty or improperly adjusted.
•Clean/adjust relief valve. Repair or replace relief valve.

•Strainer (filter) clogged or improperly sized.
•Clean filter. Use adequate size filter. Check more frequently.

•Leaky discharge hose or a spray gun.
•Replace discharge hose or spray gun.

•Inadequate / Restricted liquid to pump.
•Inspect feed line to pump for restriction or internal collapse.

•Severe cavitation.
•Check inlet conditions.

•Worn V-Packing, Hi-Pressure or Lo-Pressure seals
•Install new seal kit. Increase frequency of service.

•Worn or dirty inlet/discharge valves.
•Turbulence or obstruction of liquid exiting supply tank.
•Debris stuck in inlet/discharge valves.
•Clean inlet/discharge valves or install new valve kit.
•Check fill tube position & direct tube away from the liquid exit port.
•Clean debris or install new valve kit.

Premature seal failure

•Running pump dry.
•DO NOT RUN PUMP WITHOUT LIQUID.

•Abrasive material in the liquid being pumped.
•Install proper filtration and clean regularly.

•Excessive pressure and/or temperature of liquid.
•Check pressure and inlet liquid temperature.

•Excessive RPM.
•Check electric motor RPM and pulley diameters.

•Starving pump of adequate liquid.
• Inspect feed line to pump for restriction or internal collapse.

Water leak

•Under the manifold
•Worn V-Packing, Hi-Pressure or Lo-Pressure Seals.
•Install new seal kit. Increase frequency of service.
•Into the crankcase
•Humid air condensing into water inside the crankcase.
•Change oil every 3 months or 500 hours.

•Excessive wear to seals and V-Packing.
•Install new seal kit. Increase frequency of service.

Oil leak

•Plunger rod oil seals
•Worn plunger rod oil seals.
•Replace plunger rod oil seals.
•Crankshaft oil seals
•Worn crankshaft oil seals.
•Replace crankshaft oil seals.
•Drain plug
•Loose drain plug or worn drain plug gasket.
•Tighten drain plug or replace gasket.
•Fill Cap
•Pump turning reverse rotation.
•Crankcase overfilled.
•Correct rotation of electric motor.
•Fill crankcase to specified capacity.

•Worn o-ring on cap.
•Replace o-ring.
•Rear cover
•Loose rear cover or worn rear cover gasket.
•Tighten rear cover or replace gasket.
