If the customer just purchased a new flow control he may have to adjust it.  The instructions below will show you how to properly adjust the torque on a flow control.

  1. Install caps on the output of each flow control valve (FCV)
  2. Pressure must be equal on each FCV. To achieve this turn all FCV’s off (zero flow).
  3. Advance the adjustment handle on the FCV closest to the pump to the full flow position (the FCV closet to the pump should have the highest GPM placed on it and go down accordingly).
  4. Adjust the set screw under the hex cap on this FCV to the minimum relief setting required for operation on each individual piece of equipment.
  5. Turn this first FCV to zero flow.
  6. Repeat Steps b - d for each FCV, in order, on this power pack. Be certain that all FCV’s are off except the one that is being adjusted for the pressure relief setting.

If the customer has an older flow control with issues he may have to try and adjust the torque screw until the noise goes away.  It should only take a few turns for the noise to disappear, if it continues the flow control may be faulty.

Change the flow control, adjust and test it.
